Engineering for Safety at Bevel Tech Group, Inc

Today, Bevel Tech Group, Inc is proud to present its first demonstration of a newly designed star feed system on our pipe cutting and beveling clamshell machines. Our demonstration today to our Client will show how our months of development and design will now make the clamshell operation essentially hands free, significantly reducing the threat of injury from a pinch point. This new design will become standard on every clamshell machine used or supplied by Bevel Tech Group, Inc with no increase in cost to our customers.

We believe that Safety is our number one priority and this demonstrates our commitment to everyones safety. Even though our employees at Bevel Tech Group, Inc use these clamshell machines on almost a daily basis and are quite familiar with them, accidents can happen and by designing and incorporating these new safety devices, it will help to reduce injuries not only for our employees, but just as importantly, to our rental customers who have less experience with operating these machines.

Bevel Tech Group, Inc Completes Counterboring on Coulomb Project

Bevel Tech Group, Inc recently completed the counterboring of the 4.5 inch and 8.625 inch OD pipe for the Coulomb Project. Utilizing our dual CNC setup which only requires about 120 ft by 120 ft of work space, the dual CNC setup can maximize the production rate and decrease duration time for the customer. This setup has been utilized on many of our counterboring projects, and can be mobilized at just about any location in the world. Typical electrical requirement is 480 volt and can be supplied by a generator if needed. An air supply of 90 psig at 90 scfm is required also. Bevel Tech Group, Inc provides all the loading and unloading racks and also utilizes our automated loading rack to safely feed the pipe joint into the CNC machine.

Our proven work success in this area is why our Customers continue to call on us to perform their counterboring projects

Metrology Work on Windmill Transition Flanges – FARO Vantage

Bevel Tech Group, Inc was recently awarded and completed a job in South Louisiana for a major fabricator to precisely check five 20-ft diameter flanges using our FARO Vantage laser dimensioning tool. The job scope included measuring the flatness and circularity of the bolt circle of the five 20-ft diameter windmill transition flanges to the supporting tower. The customer needed precise verification that the flanges maintained tolerances after welding on the pieces were completed.

In the event the flanges would have exceeded the maximum tolerance range, Bevel Tech Group, Inc would be contracted to machine these flanges, in place, at their 80-ft high location on the deck platform high on the tower.

Due to the tight time frame, Bevel Tech Group, Inc had tooled up and was ready to machine the surfaces of any or all five 20-ft flanges. Our large flange facing machine was custom modified beforehand so that we could be immediately ready to perform the job, if needed, and still meet the strict deadline. In the end, all five flanges were within tolerance and the job remained on schedule for the Customer.

Damaged 40 Inch Stainless Spool Piece – New Construction

A client of ours recently called us and said that a brand new 40 inch stainless steel spool piece, elbow, and flange were damaged at their job site while attempting to set up the spool piece for installation. The new gasket surface was scarred badly enough that they did not want to attempt to install the pipe spool without getting the flange and gasket surface repaired.

After the call, the Client delivered the large spool piece to our shop that afternoon and we immediately grabbed our 58 inch OD flange facing machine and started the repairs for them. We were able to resurface the flange face and gasket area and made sure the raised gasket surface met proper specifications. The Client was able to pick up the spool piece the next morning, resulting in less than an 18 hour complete turnaround from site to site. Needless to say the client was quite happy with our work and repair time.
